Car Rust Protection and Underbody Treatment in Berkshire
On Track Detailing provides professional car rust protection and underbody treatment using Lanoguard and Bilt Hamber Dynax.
Based at our purpose-built studio in Finchampstead, Berkshire, we protect new cars, daily drivers, 4x4s, classics, imports and older vehicles against moisture, road salt and corrosion. We regularly serve customers from Reading, Wokingham, Bracknell and the surrounding areas.
Different vehicles require different levels of preparation and protection. Depending on the condition, construction and intended use of your vehicle, we may recommend Lanoguard, a Bilt Hamber Dynax treatment or a combination of suitable products.
Prices start from £350 including VAT for suitable new vehicles. Most treatments average between £475 and £675 including VAT, depending on the vehicle and the level of preparation and access required.
Which Treatment Does Your Vehicle Need?
Tell us your vehicle make and model, approximate mileage, condition and how long you expect to keep it. We will recommend the most appropriate level of underbody protection.
We inspect the accessible underside before thoroughly cleaning away dirt, road salt, grease and other contamination. Suitable panels and wheel-arch liners may be removed where included within the selected service.
Drying and Application
The cleaned underside is fully dried before Lanoguard, Bilt Hamber Dynax or a combination of products is applied to the appropriate components and concealed areas.
Surface Rust Treatment
Accessible loose and flaking surface rust is manually removed before suitable rust-converter products are applied where required. This helps stabilise remaining surface corrosion before protection is added.
Reassembly and Final Inspection
Any removed panels or liners are carefully refitted before we complete a final visual inspection. We provide photographs of the work and highlight any corrosion or areas that may require future attention.

Lanoguard and Bilt Hamber Dynax Rust Protection
We use rust-protection products from Lanoguard and Bilt Hamber, selecting the treatment according to the condition of the vehicle, the surfaces being protected and how the vehicle will be used.
Lanoguard Underbody Protection
Lanoguard is a lanolin-based corrosion protection system designed for vehicle underbodies, chassis components and exposed areas.
Rather than forming a hard coating, it creates a flexible, water-resistant barrier over the treated surfaces. It penetrates around suitable fixings and seams while retaining a transparent and inspectable finish.
Lanoguard can be applied to suitable metal, plastic and rubber surfaces. Its flexible finish does not crack or flake in the same way as some older hard-setting underbody coatings.
Bilt Hamber Dynax Rust Protection
Bilt Hamber Dynax is a range of wax-based corrosion protection products developed for vehicle underbodies, chassis components, seams and concealed areas.
Different products within the Dynax range can be selected according to the surface, location and level of exposure.
Bilt Hamber Dynax can provide an alternative where a wax-based coating is more appropriate. It may also be used alongside Lanoguard, allowing different areas of the same vehicle to receive the most suitable form of protection.
Car Rust Protection Prices
Every vehicle is different. The final price depends on its size, age, condition, underbody design and the amount of cleaning and access required.
Please note all prices are inclusive of VAT.
New Vehicle Rust Protection - From £350
This treatment is intended for suitable new or recently delivered vehicles with a clean underbody and minimal preparation requirements.
Treating the vehicle early allows exposed and vulnerable components to be protected before they have experienced several winters of water, salt and road contamination.
Following inspection, we will select an appropriate Lanoguard or Bilt Hamber Dynax treatment for the vehicle and the areas being protected.
Prices start from £350 including VAT.
Underbody Rust Protection - Typically £475
This option is suitable for many newer cars, daily drivers, lease vehicles and vehicles likely to be kept for a shorter period.
The accessible underside is inspected and cleaned before the selected Lanoguard or Bilt Hamber Dynax protection is applied.
It provides practical protection without the additional labour involved in removing extensive underbody panels and wheel-arch liners.
Most suitable vehicles average approximately £475 including VAT.
Extended Underbody Rust Protection - Typically £675
Our more detailed treatment is intended for older vehicles, long-term ownership and cars where greater access is worthwhile.
Where appropriate, underbody panels and accessible wheel-arch liners are removed. This allows areas normally concealed behind them to be cleaned, inspected and protected.
Lanoguard, Bilt Hamber Dynax or a combination of products may be used according to the areas being treated.
Most suitable vehicles average approximately £675 including VAT.

Our Underbody Cleaning and Rust-Protection Process
A professional rust-protection service involves considerably more than spraying the visible parts of the underside.
Initial Underbody Inspection
We begin by inspecting the accessible underside to assess its condition, existing protection and preparation requirements.
This allows us to identify contamination, visible corrosion or areas requiring further attention. We also consider how the vehicle is used and how long you intend to keep it before recommending the most appropriate treatment.
Underbody Cleaning
The underside is thoroughly cleaned to remove loose dirt, road grime, salt, grease and other contamination.
A recently delivered vehicle may require relatively little preparation, while an older daily-driven car or 4x4 can need considerably more work. Where included within the selected service, suitable underbody panels and accessible wheel-arch liners are removed to improve access.
Surface Rust Removal and Treatment
Where accessible surface rust is present, we manually remove loose and flaking corrosion before treating suitable affected areas with rust-converter products.
This helps stabilise the remaining surface corrosion and provides a better foundation for the selected Lanoguard or Bilt Hamber Dynax protection.
This process is intended for suitable surface corrosion. It does not replace welding, metal repair or specialist restoration where rust has caused structural damage.
Drying
The cleaned underside must be allowed to dry properly before any rust-protection product is applied.
Applying protection over trapped water or contamination can compromise the quality and durability of the treatment. This is why our underbody treatments are completed at our studio rather than offered as a quick spray-on service.
Rust-Protection Application
Once the underside is clean, treated and sufficiently dry, Lanoguard, Bilt Hamber Dynax or a combination of products is applied to the appropriate areas.
Depending on the vehicle and selected service, this can include suitable chassis components, subframes, suspension components, wheel arches, seams, fixings and concealed sections.
Using more than one product allows the treatment to be adapted to different surfaces and levels of exposure rather than applying the same product everywhere.
Reassembly and Final Inspection
Any panels or liners removed as part of the agreed service are carefully refitted before the vehicle receives a final visual inspection.
We provide photographs of the completed work, explain what has been treated and highlight any corrosion or areas that may require future attention.
What Our Customers Say
Previous Underbody Protection Work
The following projects show how the required preparation and protection can vary between vehicles:
I wanted to get my beloved 2016 Suzuki Jimny under sealed, but having only got it in May this was all quite new to me and I wasnt confident to do the job properly myself. I rung up a few places for quotes and On Track Detailing were great from the very start.
They explained clearly all the different options, were very personable and non judgemental, and did absolutely no pushing to try and get me to go for the most expensive (which other places did do). They specifically said they wouldn't recommend and it was my decision which sat really well with me.
My car was with them for about 2.5 days and they sent over 30 photos of the process from start to finish, detailing every inch of the underside of my car before and after, which was great. When I went to pick it up they were just finishing cleaning up the outside and giving it a dry off.
Trustworthy, caring, friendly and professional service all round- would highly recommend.
The service life of an underbody treatment depends on the product, the area where it has been applied and how the vehicle is used.
Lanoguard typically provides approximately 12 months of underbody protection. The manufacturer recommends regular inspection and periodic reapplication.
Bilt Hamber Dynax service life can vary according to the particular product, application area and exposure.
A low-mileage summer car will not experience the same conditions as a daily-driven 4x4 used throughout winter.
We recommend inspecting any underbody rust protection annually. This allows worn or heavily exposed areas to be identified and topped up where required.

Which is better, Lanoguard or Bilt Hamber Dynax?
Neither product is automatically better for every vehicle. We may recommend Lanoguard, Bilt Hamber Dynax or a combination of both following inspection.
Can rust protection be applied over existing corrosion?
Light surface corrosion can be cleaned and treated with suitable rust-converter products before protection is applied. Structural corrosion or damaged metal may require specialist repair first.
Does the underbody need to be cleaned before treatment?
Yes, dirt, salt, grease and other contamination must be removed before application. The underside must also be allowed to dry properly to avoid trapping moisture beneath the protection.
Is rust protection worthwhile for new cars and daily drivers?
Yes, early treatment helps protect vulnerable components before corrosion becomes established. We offer different service levels for new cars, daily drivers and vehicles intended for long-term ownership
How long does underbody rust protection last?
Service life depends on the product, application area and how the vehicle is used. We recommend an annual inspection so exposed or worn areas can be topped up when required.
