Porsche Cayman GT4 Stealth PPF Conversion

Full-Car Satin PPF Protection

This Porsche Cayman GT4 arrived with gloss Paint Protection Film already installed, but the owner wanted to completely change the appearance of the car while retaining the physical protection that PPF provides.

The existing film was carefully removed before the GT4 received a complete Stealth PPF conversion, changing the original gloss paintwork to a satin finish without permanently altering the factory paint beneath it.

Removing the Existing PPF

The GT4 had previously been protected with gloss PPF installed elsewhere. The installation itself was generally good, although a significant amount of adhesive edge preparation had been used around several areas of the vehicle.

This made sections of the removal process more involved than they otherwise needed to be.

We prefer to achieve secure, discreet edges through careful preparation, accurate pattern adjustment and correct installation technique rather than relying heavily on additional edge adhesive.

Once the previous film had been safely removed, the paintwork and surrounding edges could be thoroughly inspected and prepared for the new installation.

Full-Car Porsche GT4 Stealth PPF

Stealth or satin Paint Protection Film provides the same principle of physical protection as conventional clear PPF, but changes the appearance of gloss paintwork to a satin finish.

Every painted exterior panel on this Cayman GT4 was protected.

Rather than simply installing standard computer-cut patterns exactly as supplied, the patterns were modified and extended where appropriate. This allowed film to wrap around panel edges and into adjoining areas where the vehicle design permitted.

This is particularly important with Stealth PPF. Any exposed gloss paint along an edge can become considerably more noticeable when the surrounding panel has been converted to satin.

Our PPF is plotted in-house, allowing us to adjust coverage for the individual vehicle rather than being restricted to completely standard patterns.

Bespoke GT4 Graphics

Once the Stealth PPF installation was complete, bespoke graphics were applied over the film to finish the conversion.

The combination of satin bodywork and contrasting graphics gave the GT4 a significantly different appearance while leaving the original paint protected underneath.

This also means the conversion is reversible. Subject to the condition of the paintwork and correct future removal of the film, the underlying gloss finish remains unchanged and fully protected.

Ceramic Coating Over the PPF

The completed installation was protected with Labocosmetica HPC Pro Ceramic Coating.

Applying an appropriate ceramic coating over PPF improves water behaviour and makes contamination easier to remove during regular maintenance without changing the intended satin appearance of the Stealth film.

Ceramic coating and PPF perform different jobs. The PPF provides the physical barrier against stone chips, light scratches and minor scuffs, while the coating primarily improves maintenance and resistance to environmental contamination.

Interior Detail

While the Cayman GT4 was with us, we also completed a full interior valet, thoroughly cleaning the cabin and leaving the entire vehicle ready for collection.

Porsche PPF in Berkshire

This Cayman GT4 is a good example of how Paint Protection Film can do more than simply protect a front bumper or bonnet.

Full-car PPF can preserve the original paintwork, while Stealth film can also completely change the visual character of a car without requiring a permanent paint or colour change.
