If you are searching for car ceramic coating in London, Surrey or the wider South East, you will quickly find a huge difference in pricing, preparation and the type of service being offered.
Some ceramic coating packages are completed in a few hours. Others require several days of cleaning, decontamination, machine polishing and curing before the vehicle is ready to collect.
The coating itself is only part of the job.
The condition of the paintwork, level of preparation and environment in which the coating is applied can have a major effect on both the appearance and durability of the finished result.
At On Track Detailing, we provide professional ceramic coating from our dedicated studio in Finchampstead, near Reading and Wokingham. We regularly work with customers travelling from Surrey, West London and further afield who are looking for a studio-based ceramic car coating service rather than a mobile appointment.
Our ceramic protection packages start from £499 including VAT, with options ranging from one-day gloss enhancement through to multi-day paint correction and longer-lasting ceramic coatings.
If you are still deciding which level of protection is right for your car, you can also view our full Ceramic Coating service page.

We are based in Finchampstead, Berkshire, close to Wokingham and Reading.
We are not a mobile detailing service.
Every ceramic coating appointment is completed inside our dedicated detailing studio, where we have controlled working conditions, specialist inspection lighting and the equipment required for proper paint preparation and coating application.
Although we are based in Berkshire, a significant proportion of our customers travel to us from Surrey, West London, Hampshire and surrounding areas.
For customers searching for ceramic coating Surrey or car ceramic coating London, travelling outside the immediate area can make sense when the vehicle is being left for one or more days anyway.
Typical areas we regularly serve include Wokingham, Reading, Bracknell, Ascot, Camberley, Farnborough, Guildford and surrounding parts of Surrey, as well as customers travelling from West London.
A ceramic coating appointment is not something that needs to be completed outside your home. For more involved work, leaving the car with a studio-based detailer can allow more time for inspection, polishing and curing without being affected by rain, wind, direct sunlight or changing temperatures.
Local collection and delivery may also be available by arrangement, as well as complimentary lifts to and from local public transport.
Not sure whether the journey is worthwhile? Send us some photographs of your vehicle and we can usually give you an initial idea of the most appropriate package before you travel.
A proper ceramic coating appointment begins long before the coating bottle is opened.
The vehicle is first safely washed, with attention given to the wheels, arches, door shuts, fuel flap and exterior trim. Tar, iron fallout and other bonded contamination are then removed so the paintwork can be properly assessed.
Once clean, the paint is inspected under specialist lighting.
This is where the condition of the car begins to determine the rest of the process.
A newer or carefully maintained vehicle may only need a light machine polish before protection. A used car with visible swirl marks, scratches or previous poor polishing may need one or more correction stages first.
After polishing, the paintwork is thoroughly cleaned to remove polishing oils and residues before the ceramic coating is applied.
The vehicle then remains inside the studio during the initial curing period.
Depending on the package, additional ceramic protection can also be applied to the wheels, glass, exterior plastics or Paint Protection Film.
For customers whose priority is easier maintenance rather than significant paint correction, our One Day Detail combines exterior preparation, gloss enhancement and ceramic protection in a single working day.
For cars with more visible defects, our Paint Correction and Enhancement packages allow considerably more time for restoring the finish before the coating is applied.

The ceramic coating is important, but preparation usually has the biggest influence on how the finished car looks.
A coating does not hide scratches, swirl marks, water spotting or poor previous polishing.
Whatever is underneath the coating will still be visible afterwards.
This is why simply washing a car and applying an expensive ceramic product does not automatically produce a high-quality result.
Good preparation can involve several stages:
The exact process should depend on the vehicle rather than following the same routine on every car.
A new vehicle with good paintwork may need relatively little correction. A dark-coloured car that has spent several years using roadside hand washes may need considerably more work before applying the same coating.
There is also little point applying a long-life ceramic coating over heavily swirled paint if the owner is expecting the car to look substantially better afterwards.
For this reason, we normally discuss the condition of the paintwork and your expectations before recommending the coating itself.
If visible swirls or scratches are your main concern, it may be more useful to start with paint correction rather than choosing a coating purely by its advertised lifespan.
The cost of a ceramic car coating service depends on more than the size of the bottle being used.
Vehicle size matters, but the condition of the paintwork and amount of preparation required usually have a greater effect on the final price.
Our ceramic protection packages currently begin with:
Designed for vehicles in reasonable condition where the priority is improved gloss, easier maintenance and ceramic protection rather than extensive defect removal.
The car receives full exterior preparation, decontamination, a gloss-enhancing machine polish and 2 Year Ceramic Coating and Paint protection product.
Suitable for vehicles with light to moderate swirl marks and general wash damage.
This allows considerably more time for correction before applying a professional three-to-forur year ceramic coating.
Designed for paintwork requiring a stronger cutting stage followed by refinement.
This is typically better suited to vehicles with more obvious swirl marks, scratches or tired-looking paint, and is our most popular service.
For heavily marked vehicles or owners seeking the highest safe level of defect removal.
The price may also increase for very large vehicles, extensive contamination, previous poor-quality repairs or additional wheel, glass and interior coating options.
Longer-lasting five-year and seven-year ceramic coating upgrades are also available.
The best way to compare cars ceramic coating packages is not simply by looking at the advertised coating lifespan. Check how much preparation is included, whether polishing is part of the package and what level of protection is actually being applied.
A £300 coating package and a £950 correction-and-coating package may both use the words “ceramic coating”, but they are not necessarily comparable services.

If you search for ceramic coating near me, you may see prices ranging from a few hundred pounds to well over £1,000.
Some of that difference comes from the product used, but much of it comes from labour and preparation.
A lower-cost package may include a wash, quick polish and protection completed within a few hours.
A more involved service may keep the vehicle for two, three or four days while the paintwork is decontaminated, inspected, corrected and refined before the coating is installed. Unfortunately there is no magic time-machine - Generally a job taking several days will result in a better finish and more durable protection than a job completed in a few hours.
There can also be a difference between mobile and studio-based businesses, VAT-registered and non-VAT-registered operators, insurance status, staffing and the facilities available.
None of these things automatically determine whether someone is good or bad at detailing. They do, however, explain why two businesses can quote very different prices for services that appear similar at first glance.
When comparing quotations, ask what preparation is included, how long the car will be worked on and what coating will actually be applied.
That usually gives a much clearer picture than comparing the headline price alone.
The turnaround depends on the condition of the vehicle and package selected.
A straightforward One Day Detail with ourselves can normally be completed within a single working day. The car is dropped off in the morning and collected later the same day.
More extensive paint correction and ceramic coating packages generally require several days.
As a rough guide:
Larger vehicles or more advanced restoration work may take longer.
Before booking, we will explain how long we expect to need the car and what work is included.
For more valuable or specialist vehicles, enclosed transportation can also be arranged where required.
If you are travelling from further afield, let us know when enquiring. We can usually help plan the booking around collection times, transport or onward travel.
For a basic wash or maintenance valet, travelling a significant distance makes little sense.
For paint correction, PPF or a multi-day ceramic coating package however, the situation is different.
Many owners choose the business based on workmanship, experience and aftercare rather than simply selecting whoever is closest, especially on jobs of several days like most ceramic coating projects.
This is particularly common with performance cars, new vehicles, enthusiast-owned cars and customers who prioritise quality over convenience, or want to combine several services into one booking.
A customer travelling from Surrey or West London might combine ceramic coating with paint correction, wheel ceramic coating, brake caliper refinishing or Paint Protection Film to be carried out at the same time.
That does not mean every customer needs to travel.
There are plenty of capable detailers throughout London and Surrey. The important thing is finding a service that matches the level of preparation and finish you are expecting.
Prices vary considerably depending on vehicle size, paint condition, preparation and the type of ceramic coating being installed.
A professional studio-based package can start from around £500 for lighter enhancement and protection, while multi-day paint correction and longer-life coatings can exceed £1,000.
At On Track Detailing, ceramic protection starts from £499 including VAT.

It can be, particularly when the package involves several days of paint preparation and correction.
For more involved work, customers often choose a detailer based on experience, facilities, previous work and the service being offered rather than distance alone.
Depending on the coating and maintenance, professional ceramic protection can last from around 12 months to several years.
Our longer-term coating options range from approximately two to seven years.
Actual durability depends on mileage, storage, washing technique and ongoing maintenance.
No.
The coating itself does not remove scratches or swirl marks. These need to be reduced through machine polishing before the coating is applied. That is why we include ceramic coating with paint correction packages.
Yes.
New cars are ideal candidates for ceramic protection, although they should still be inspected and properly prepared first. New paintwork can contain transport contamination, adhesive residue, water spots or light dealership wash marks.
They provide different types of protection.
Ceramic coating provides chemical protection and makes the vehicle easier to clean. Paint Protection Film provides a physical barrier against stone chips, scratches and road debris.
Many owners combine both.
Choosing a ceramic coating should involve more than selecting the product with the longest number printed on the bottle.
The quality of the preparation, condition of the paintwork and experience of the installer all play a major role in how the vehicle looks and how well the protection performs.
At On Track Detailing, every car ceramic coating package is completed from our dedicated studio near Reading and Wokingham, with customers regularly travelling to us from within Berkshire, Surrey, West London and beyond
Whether you want a simple one-day enhancement or more extensive paint correction before protection, we can recommend a package based on the vehicle rather than automatically selling the most expensive option.
